CHAPTER 1 The Persian Period and the Transition to Hellenism (pp. 1-10) Since the completion of Ephraim Stern’s significant volume in 2001 on the archaeology of the land of the Bible, ending with the Persian period, there has been a serious reengagement with the material culture of that period and a renewed interest in its history.
